Subject: stabilized R-lipoic acid?

Question:
hi Dr. Cinque, Why VRP doesn't make the stabilized form of R-lipoic acid (Na-RALA) it's a little more expensive but worth taking? or it's just a hype?? Second, why does still make the ALA 100 mg, 500 mg? and which one should i take, the regular R_lipoic acid, the stabilized one or ALA for its anti aging properties and insulin-resistance prevention since I'm on high carbohydrate diet? THANK YOU

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
Well, I talked to VRP and they said that their R-lipoic acid product is very stable- at least for a year- according to their testing. It would be interesting to find out what Dr. Bruce Ames says about this, since he is the one who put lipoic acid on the map, starting with alpha lipoic acid. But in the meantime, if you want to go ahead and use the sodium salt form of R-lipoic acid due to the claim that it's more stable, I won't have my feelings hurt.
