Question No.: 19176
Submitted By: J.S.
Submitted on: September 16, 2009
Subject: natural sleep aids

Question:
Can you recommend anything that will help insomnia ??

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
Well, you don't want to start taking any prescription drugs for sleep. That would really be a mistake. There isn't one of them that is worth a darn.

I think Melatonin is very good. It may not help a lot, but it will at least help a little, and it's good for your body in many, many ways besides sleep. Other things that are good are L-Theanine which is the calming amino acid from green tea. Then there is Herbal Sleep which consists of herbs that help with sleep that are safe and effective. Taking calcium and magnesium late at night can help by inducing muscle relaxation, therefore Calicum/Magnesium. Finally, the amino acid glycine can aid with sleep, but we don't sell it.
