Question No.: 19079
Submitted By: Anonymous
Submitted on: May 28, 2009
Subject: RNA supplements

Question:
I am really curious as to how RNA supplements are linked with brain health. I can't find any research to support this, and I'm really interested in how you are able to mantain a highly unstable molecule, like RNA, in a tablet? Plus, the enormous amount of RNases on your skin and stomach should immediately degrade the RNA... shouldn't it?

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
Well, I do not take an RNA supplement, although I see that I do offer it on my site. Keep in mind that I try to include most of the supplements that VRP offers, although I'm always a little behind since they add new products all the time. And I really can't answer your questions about RNA either. All I know is that RNA supplements have been around for a long time (at least since the 1970s). Yet, they are still very controversial. RNA was first popularized by Dr. Benjamin Frank and his No-Aging Diet in 1976. And he reported numerous benefits from RNA, including anti-aging effects on the skin. However, there is certainly no concensus among anti-aging and complementary physicians that RNA supplementation should be urged on people. And if there is high uric acid level or impaired kidneys, it could mean trouble to take RNA. When it comes to supplements, I realize that we can't take everything, and I am not inclined, at this time, to take or recommend RNA.
