Question No.: 19001
Submitted By: a.mitchell
Submitted on: May 8, 2009
Subject: nail growth

Question:
I have recently removed acryllic nails which have left my nails somewhat damaged. Since removal, the underneath nail does not seem to have grown. why is this and what can I take to promote nail growth.? I am also suffering from alopoecia areata, which has been diagnosed by a specialist. Is this connected ?

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
Yes, alopecia areata does occasionally affect the nails, although whether that is true in your particular case I don't know. You could ask a dermatologist. As far as taking something to promote nail growth, there are lots of formulas out there. We offer one called Extension Hair and Nails. I've never taken it because my nails grow just fine; I have to cut them every week. But I know that customers have gotten good results with this formula.
