Questions and AnswersQuestion No.: 18979 Submitted By: Anonymous Submitted on: April 30, 2009 Subject: what to take to resist swine flu Question: What supplements would you suggest that would help to avoid the swine flu and what supplements would you suggest for someone who is already sick? I'm willing to take a lot, so please list everything you can think of. Thank you. Dr. Cinque's Answer: Well, I am not going to address the treatment of swine flu because it depends on the severity of it. In the mildest cases, it is admitted that no treatment is needed, and recovery is spontaneous, just as it is with the regular flu. But in the most severe cases, it could require medical life support because of complications. However, I think the efficacy of antiviral drugs is very doubtful, and I would not take them under any circumstances. As far as what you can take to resist the swine flu, there is a long list of possibilities, but, I think it is important NOT to overreact to the headlines. I refuse to do that, and I don't think you should either. So, I am going to pass on some advice from Dr. Donald Miller M.D., who is a cardiac surgeon and a professor of surgery at the University of Washington at Seattle, and he is also one of the smartest and most knowledgable doctors I know of. Dr. Miller is one of that rare breed who has soared to the top in the conventional medical field but is also highly respected in the alternative field. And Dr. Miller, who rejects the flu vaccine, says to take 5000 IUs of Vitamin D3 every day. Already, I take half that much every day for general health. But if you are especially worried about the swine flu and you are determined to do something, then go up to 5000 IUs a day of Vitamin D3. It's first on his list of preventative interventions, and it's also first on mine. |
