Question No.: 18759
Submitted By: Cecile Langelier
Submitted on: February 23, 2009
Subject: CoQ10 for Parkinson's

Question:
A friend of mine who has Parkinson's asked me to ask you how many CoQ10-H2 capsules would be the equivalent of the 1200mg of CoQ10 given to Parkinson's patients in a recent study you included in your newsletters..... "23 patients on the highest dose showed significantly less impairment than the others."

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
Well, if she took the standard CoQ10 at 100 mgs, it would come to 12 capsules a day. However, the new CoQ10-H2 form is much better absorbed, and I am quite sure it is at least twice as effective as the standard CoQ10. To the best of my knowledge, this new improved form of CoQ10 was not used in the study you mentioned. So, if I were your friend, I would take CoQ10-H2 100 mgs up to 6 capsules a day.
