Question No.: 18580
Submitted By: Bob
Submitted on: January 7, 2009
Subject: grape seed extract

Question:
Do you think taking 200mg of Grape Seed Extract (95% opc) twice a day is too much. I try to incorporate cofactors like 500mg VitC and 100mg Vit E with the two doses. But is there any harm with taking essentailly 400mg a day? I have family history of heart Disease and diabetes. Thanks...

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
No, I really don't think it's harmful. You have to realize that because no one owns a patent on grape seed extract, it really doesn't pay for anyone to do all the extensive testing that might answer a question like that definitively. But if you feel like taking 400 mgs/day, I am really not concerned about the safety of doing it. We're talking about grape seeds here.
