Subject: heavy metal poisoning

Question:
I have been diagnosed with moderate heavy metal poisoning. how long will i have to take dmsa before i will notice any improvement in my joint pain and muscle weakness?

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
I don't know the basis on which that diagnosis was made so I really can't say, but in general, symptomatic improvement from taking DMSA takes about 6 to 8 weeks, and sometimes a few months. It's not an overnight thing.
