Question No.: 18332
Submitted By: cm
Submitted on: March 24, 2008
Subject: BHT

Question:
My daughter has just been diagnosed with herpes II. She is 20 and pre-diabetic. I don't like her to take a lot of medicine and heard about BHT therapy for herpes many years ago. Do you know of any ill affects the BHT might cause for her pre-diabetes, and do you know how long it could take (ballpark) to work the virus out of her system? I ready to order the BHT for her if it will not affect her pre-diabetic condition. Thank you for your newsletter and your help.

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
I have no reason to think that BHT will adversely affect her pre-diabetic condition, and I think BHT is safer than any of the anti-viral drugs used in Medicine. However, it is not a quick fix, and maximum benefit (which may include complete clearance of the virus) could take a year. It is important not to consume alcohol when taking BHT.
