Question No.: 18317
Submitted By: eb
Submitted on: February 27, 2008
Subject: Zoloft replacement

Question:
what can I take safely while taking 100mg of daily zoloft? I want to start weaning from my zoloft, with the help of my md) soon. I experience, slight anxiety and mild depression.

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
Well, the nice thing is that you can take natural aids, in most cases, without having to worry about adverse drug interactions. I suggest you try SAM-e at a dose of 800 mgs daily, plus add some Theanine, the natural anxiety reliever derived from green tea. Both of these supplements are not only safe, they are positively good for you. And I do wish you luck getting off Zoloft. A recent study found that drugs like Zoloft actually work no better than placeboes. I will have an article about it in the next newsletter, appearing Monday, March 3.
