Question No.: 18311
Submitted By: Anonymous
Submitted on: February 17, 2008
Subject: Hep C

Question:
vitamins to help a patient with hepatitis c

Dr. Cinque's Answer:
Well, I would definitely take our Hepatogen, which was designed by Dr. Dean to support the liver. Other nutrients that are liver-supportive are SAM-e and lipoic acid. For immune system support, I would take EpiCor. I would be concerned about taking the standard medical treatments, interferon and ribavirin, because they take a heavy toll on the body, and the benefits are inconsistent. There are all different degrees of Hep C, and the more mild it was, the more inclined I would be to stick with natural methods. But I will tell you quite honestly that I am no expert in this area, and you should be working with a doctor who is more knowledgable and experienced with Hep C than I am. A good resource is the American College for Advancement in Medicine or ACAM. If you go to their webpage, you can search for a doctor in your vicinity. ACAM
