A lower dose DMSA with children in mind
|
The chronic buildup of heavy metals in the body, such as lead, cadmium,
arsenic and mercury, has resulted from widespread pollution and can contribute
to many different degenerative diseases. Fortunately, there are effective ways
to chelate or remove these toxins from the body. One of the most effective is
DMSA (dimercaptosuccinic acid), a sulhydryl compound that binds heavy metals.
DMSA is an especially potent chelator of mercury. This water-soluble, non-
toxic compound has been used for mercury detoxification since the mid 1950s.
Recent clinical studies have substantiated DMSA's safety and effectiveness.
Common causes of mercury toxicity include not only fish, but also childhood
vaccines. A mercury compound known as thimerosal has been used for decades as
a preservative in childhood vaccines. Progressive pediatric neurologists and
psychiatrists are using DMSA to treat autism in children because of the
connection to mercury. Even the FDA has certified the safety of giving DMSA to
children, although they usually recommend it for lead detoxification.
Fortunately, DMSA will bind to mercury just as readily as it will bind to
lead. Before and after hair analysis has demonstrated major reduction in
mercury load from taking DMSA.

Dosage: 1/2 mg per pound of a child's body weight per dose, taken 3-4 times
daily or as directed by the child's physician. A multimineral replacement
