Glucose Control - Blood Sugar Regulators
Unfortunately, we all tend to become diabetic with age. Maybe not full-blown diabetes, but I am talking about that creeping, rising blood sugar that pushes us towards diabetes. Why does this happen? It is not usually because of a lack of insulin, rather it is due to "loss of receptor sensitivity" to insulin. Loss of receptor sensitivity to hormones is a cardinal feature of aging. What can you do about it? 1. Stay lean. Excess body fat puts the kabosh on hormone receptors like nothing else does. 2. Avoid refined carbs. Make sure that all the carbs you eat are unrefined, unprocessed whole fruits, whole grains, beans etc. which are loaded with fiber that tends to slow down the absorption of sugar. 3. Avoid excess calories. Keeping total calorie consumption low tends to stave off diabetes. 4. Exercise. By exercising vigorously and regularly, you train your body to process sugar efficiently. Exercise increases the production of enzymes that process sugar. Exercise also increases the rate at which muscles remove sugar from the blood and store it as glycogen, and the liver does the same thing. 5. Consider the judicious use of glucose-lowering supplements found on this page. Take an especially close look at Glucontrol. Designed by Dr. Ward Dean, Glucontrol is, in my opinion, the most advanced sugar-control dietary supplement in the world.
