Advanced iron formula with iron bis-glycinate
|
Iron Complex is a complete blood-building formula containing the full spectrum of nutrients required for hemoglobin formation and the production of healthy red blood cells. Iron Complex features iron bis-glycinate chelate, a gentler form of iron with superior bioavailability. Iron Complex addresses all of the different forms of nutritionally related anemias due to deficiencies of iron, folic acid, and/or vitamin B12. Nutritional related anemia occurs when the number of red blood cells or the hemoglobin in them falls below normal, or the red blood cells develop an abnormal size and shape. All these conditions cause a decrease in the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. This reduced oxygen carrying capacity translates into your heart having to work harder to ensure that the vital oxygen is available to the 75 trillion cells that comprise the human body. If the anemia becomes severe this can result in the body getting less oxygen than it needs to function properly.
Without iron, your body cannot make hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the iron containing protein in red blood cells that transports oxygen from the lungs to the cells of the body. Each hemoglobin molecule is made up of proteins that contain an iron bound site called heme. The absorption of iron from iron bis-glycinate chelate is significantly higher than iron from ferrous sulfate. Research also shows that iron from iron bis-glycinate chelate to be absorbed at a rate 4 to 7 times higher than the iron from ferrous sulfate. To date there have been over three dozen scientific reports published showing the benefits of supplementing with iron bis-glycinate chelate. Iron bis-glycinate chelate has been found to have superior absorption, greater tolerance, lower toxicity, less dietary interaction, higher stability, much lower pro-oxidant activity, and greater physiologic benefits than other forms of iron.
Both folic acid and vitamin B12 are required to make the protein portion of hemoglobin. When the body is deficient in folic acid or vitamin B12, red blood cells become abnormally large and have a decreased life span. It is important to note that it is not clinically prudent to supplement with folic acid alone, since it can mask pernicious anemia (vitamin B12 deficiency) that if not identified can lead to neurological damage. This is why consuming folic acid and B12 together is the best approach for supporting healthy RBC production. Vitamin C – Vitamin C is added to aid in absorption and keep the iron in a reduced state which is a requirement for the uptake of iron.
